Anne-Sophie Mutter's Masterclass in Taiwan

Application Guidelines
I. Date & Time: Monday, January 26, 2026 (Morning).
II. Venue: Taipei City. The specific venue will be announced alongside the auditor registration details on our official platform after the application deadline.
III. Masterclass Slots: A maximum of three students will be selected. Each student will receive 45 minutes of individual coaching.
IV. Selection Process: Applicants must prepare and submit the required documents listed in Section VI. The NSO will shortlist candidates, and Ms. Mutter will personally select the final participants.
V. Eligibility
1. Violin majors under the age of 25 (including students from music specialized classes, departments, or graduate institutes) who meet at least one of the following criteria:
a. Ranked in the top five of a national competition within the past year. (Results from the 2024 National Student Competition of Music will be accepted.)
b. Finalist/Nominee in an international competition within the past year. (Applicants applying under criteria a. or b. must provide scanned copies of supporting documents.)
c. Applicants who do not meet the above criteria but wish to apply must provide a letter of recommendation signed by the Head of their Music Department/Graduate Institute.
2. Students not enrolled in music specialized classes, departments, or graduate institutes may also apply, provided that they submit scanned copies of supporting documents meeting either criterion (a) or (b) above.
3. Selected participants must provide their own piano accompanists for the masterclass performance.
VI. Required Application Documents
1. Application Form: Complete the Chinese/English Google Form. (Please click here to apply).
2. Repertoire / Performance Video:
a. A cloud link to a performance video recorded within the past year. The video must clearly show both hands and full-body posture. No length limit. Upload in MP4 or MOV format to Dropbox or Google Drive (ensure "Link Sharing" is turned on).
b. Repertoire should ideally consist of the following:
- Modern/Contemporary works, preferably those dedicated to Ms. Mutter.
- Violin concertos, sonatas, or other virtuosic works from the Viennese Classical period.
c. The repertoire in the video must be the same as the piece intended for the masterclass coaching.
d. Personal Biography (Chinese & English, max. 250 words each)
VII. Submission Deadline
All materials must be submitted via Google Form by 11:59 PM (UTC+8), January 4, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.
VIII. Announcement of Results
Selected participants will be notified via Google Form by January 16, 2026. Results will also be posted on the NSO official website.
IX. Important Notes
• Applications with missing documents will not be processed.
• The masterclass will be conducted entirely in English; no Chinese translation will be provided.
• The masterclass will include a 30-minute Q&A session.
• The organizer reserves the right to reduce the number of participants or cancel the event if no qualified candidates are identified.
• All applications and inquiries must be submitted via Google Form. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted.
• All application and review processes are handled with strict confidentiality and impartiality. Applicant information will not be disclosed to third parties.
• Participants are deemed to consent to being photographed and filmed. The organizer reserves the right to use such records for archival and promotional purposes.
• All applicants (including participants and finalists) are deemed to have agreed to all provisions of these regulations and shall not assert any legal claims, seek compensation, or raise objections against the organizer, co-organizers, or the panel of judges regarding the selection results, changes of the Program, or the overall process. All materials submitted by applicants will not be returned.
• Audio recording, video recording, or any form of documentation at the event venue is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from the organizer. Should consent be granted, the organizer shall retain all copyrights and usage rights to such recordings. The organizer reserves the right to archive, edit, or utilize these materials for promotional and publicity purposes.
• The organizer reserves the right to modify, change, suspend, or cancel the Program at any time. For matters not explicitly covered in these regulations, the organizer reserves the right to make amendments, supplements, or interpretations via public announcements without further individual notice.
• The organizer reserves the right of final decision and interpretation on all matters related to this Program.
