Chao-Ying Lu

Lu has been a member of National Symphony Orchestra since 2007, and was appointed as the viola assistant principal in 2009. Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University Department of Music with bachelor’s degree and master's degree, and Doctor of Philosophy degree of NTNU of NTNU. Lu has learned with Professor Jui-Se Yang, Li-Wen Wang, Yoshinaga Teizou, Hsin-Ping Liu, Shu-Ching Hsu and Huihao Pan.

In 2004-5, Lu was awarded the first prize in Hsing Tian Kong Music Competition, NTNU Concerto Competition, and National Viola Competition, and performed Bruch’s Romance, Paganini’s Sonata for Grand Viola and Orchestra and Mozart’s Sinfonia Koncertante, K. 364 with NTNU Orchestra. Lu was a member of Pacific Music Festival in 2005 and 2006.

Lu regularly participates in NSO Chamber & Lecture Concerts. Recently she performed chamber music composed by resident musician Brett Dean with the composer, and had chamber tour concerts with Paul Huang.
