2018 marks the 100th birth anniversary of Leonard Bernstein. The legacy of the iconic composer and conductor of the 20th century has shaped the American musical landscape. His work brought American music to another level, especially his dramatic compositions such as West Side Story and Candide, in which the composer gave full expression to the American culture and language with his musical innovations. In this lecture concert, we will introduce the representative works of Bernstein’s dramatic composition. In addition to West Side Story and Candide, the program also features Peter Pan and the lively cycle of I Hate Music.
