Devoted in cello performing, young cellist Chih-Yin Wei started playing cello at age 10 and divulged her musical talent in many music competitions. She has won the “ICRT Young Star” scholarship and the first prize of Taipei Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and performed Schumann A minor Cello Concerto at the National Concert Hall in 1992. Ms. Wei was awarded with The United Daily News-Mr. Ti-Wu Wang scholarship back to back in 1997 and 1998; and was selected to the “Young Star Series” 2000 of the National Chiang Kai Shek Culture Center and gave solo recital at the National Recital Hall. Ms. Wei was accepted by Taipei National University of the Arts with top grades. After graduation, she was admitted by Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hamburg and studied with Prof. Wolfgang Mehlhom. To further improve her cello technique, Ms, Wei also attended master classes with Prof. Peter Buck, Prof. Young-Chang Cho and Prof. Wen-Sinn Young. Ms. Wei gave a solo recital at the Hamburg City Concert Hall and graduated top of her class. Currently, Ms. Wei is the Associate Principal Cello at the National Symphony Orchestra and she teaches at Shih Chien University. She is also the founder of “Taipei Piano Trio”
