Nguyen Hoang Tung began to learn oboe in 1996 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, graduated with Bachelor degree in 2009, went on to Dresden Academy of Music (C.M. V. Weber) in 2011, studying with Prof. Guido Titze and Prof Ce’line Moinet and received a Master degree in 2013.
Nguyen has appeared as the principal oboe of Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra (SAYOWE) in Bangkok, Thailand in 2003, 2004, 2006; during 2006-2011, performed as a member of Asian Youth Orchestra on tours to Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea; served in Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra under conductor Tetsuji Honna participating music festivals in Tokyo: “Asian Orchestra Week” in 2004,“La Folle Journee” in 2007, became its principal oboist in 2009; joined Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra in Beethoven Festival in Bonn and Berlin under conductor Dr. Peter Gülke in 2009. While studying in Dresden, Nguyen worked as a substitute in Symphony Orchestra Staatoperte Dresden in 2012.
Together with Hanoi Wind Quintet, Nguyen has won the 1st prize at Asian Symphonic Band Competition in Bangkok, Thailand in 2005; as a soloist, won the 1st prize and named Best Performer in Autumn Competition in Vietnem in 2009 and appeared with Tübingen Chamber Orchestra in its Asian tour under conductor Gudni Emilsson the same year.
