Pi-Tzu Yang received her Konzertexamen-PH.D from Musik Hochschule Detmold after studying in the Conservatory of Music in Zwolle. She also has percussion teaching certificate and chamber music performance diploma. Yang studied percussion with Chin-Hsiang Huang when she was young. While in Germany, she studied with Peter Prommel and other percussion masters. Upon graduating with top honors, she returned to Taiwan and started her teaching career in several universities and colleges.
During her stay in Germany, she had been sponsored by the DAAD Scholarship and was awarded the first prize of Münster International New Music Competition. Yang had been the Timpani Principal of Detmolder Kammerorchester, guest percussion player of Nordheinwestfahlen Phiharmonie, and co-founded the Vino Rosso-Eastern European Percussion Chamber Ensemble. She regularly gives recitals, lauded by the Press as:

Currently, Yang is a percussion player of Taiwan Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra, and teaches as an Assistant Professor in the Fu Jen Catholic University, Tunghai University, Soochow University. She is now Executive Director of the Taiwan Percussion Association.
