On foundations built by Bedrich Smetana, solidified by Leoš Janáček, and broadened by Antonín Dvořák, Bosnian folk music put down deeproots in the unique, enriched soils of Czech music. Lovely folk hymns recur in the works of all three composers, such as the brooding Dumky with a little light-heartedness, and From My Life with entertainment in moderation. Combining delicate string harmonies with sonorous piano notes, the NSO will pay tribute to the three great composers while presenting their similarly inspiring works.
