CARL MARIA VON WEBER : Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, Op. 34
The skills and characteristics of the clarinet finally got the chance to shine in the hands of the 19th century romantic composer Weber. From 1811 to 1815, Weber composed Clarinet Quintet Opus.34 in the classical four-movement form, but created a concerto-like stage for a virtuosic clarinet to flaunt and sing as in an operatic aria, making the form of quintets more delicate. The twentieth-century clarinet player and composer, Widmann, created Fantasie für Klarinette Solo in 1993, not only inheriting the romantic clarinet playing techniques of Weber, but also absorbing the avant-garde vocabularies of the twentieth century, pop and jazz.
