Announcement of Selection for Music Director by Taiwan Philharmonic

1.The Taiwan Philharmonic (also known as NSO, the National Performing Arts Center-National Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan, R.O.C.) announces its search for Music Director in accordance with relative regulations to proceed their selections under those regulations.

2.The Music Director is employed by the Board of Directors of National Performing Arts Center and the main responsibilities include act as conductor of the Taiwan Philharmonic and in charge of orchestra training and rehearsals for concert performances, manage orchestra development and direction, examine annual project, evaluate orchestra members’ performance periodically, supervise auditions and enrollments for new members, etc.

3.The required amount of time the Music Director engage with the orchestra is according to the discrete contract by the Board of Directors.

4.Applicants should have one of the following qualifications:
a. Recommended and approved by more than half of the Taiwan Philharmonic orchestra musicians.
b. Recommended by the Board Members of National Performing Arts Center or the Music Director Selection Committee.
c. Assumed a full-time conductor position in a professional symphony orchestra.

5.Required documents and materials:
a. Applicants which qualification falls under category 4(a) and 4(b), please submit recommendation letter (format as provided) and curriculum vitae with relevant information including video and audio recordings of performances and rehearsals as well as a list of repertoires conducted. Recordings can be sent in by DVD or internet.
b. Applicants which qualification falls under category 4(c), please submit application form (format as provided) and curriculum vitae with relevant information including video and audio recordings of performances and rehearsals as well as a list of repertoires conducted. Recordings can be sent in by DVD or internet.
